Living the van life is all about freedom, exploration, and making the most of limited space. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice convenience. One of the best ways to streamline your life on the road is with an Amazon Prime membership. Whether you're parked by the beach or deep in the mountains, Amazon Prime offers features that make it feel like you're living in the lap of luxury—even if you're living in a 1972 Chevy van (like mine!).
Here are some of the coolest features that come with Amazon Prime and how they can make van life even better:
1. Free Two-Day (and Sometimes Same-Day) Shipping
When you’re traveling, finding reliable stores can be tricky. With Amazon Prime, you can get supplies, tools, van gadgets, and more delivered to wherever you are—be it a campground or a friend's driveway. In some areas, you can even get same-day delivery! That’s a game changer when you’re in a pinch and need something fast, like a water filter or a solar panel connector.
2. Prime Video: Entertainment On the Go
Van life is full of adventure, but sometimes you just want to kick back and relax. Prime Video lets you stream movies and TV shows wherever you have a signal—or you can download them ahead of time to watch offline. It’s perfect for those cozy nights in your van when you’re parked under the stars.
3. Prime Wardrobe: Try Before You Buy
Limited closet space in the van? No problem. Prime Wardrobe lets you try clothes and gear before you commit. Order a few options, try them on, and return what doesn’t work—at no extra cost. It’s like having a mobile dressing room.
4. Exclusive Discounts
Amazon Prime members get access to exclusive discounts and deals, especially during Prime Day. Whether you’re shopping for camping gear, cookware, or that portable blender you’ve been eyeing, you can save a ton while equipping your van life.
5. Amazon Music
No road trip is complete without the perfect soundtrack. With Amazon Music, you get access to millions of songs ad-free. You can download playlists for offline listening, making sure you’ve got the tunes rolling even when your signal isn’t.
6. Prime Reading
If you’re a bookworm, Prime Reading gives you access to a library of eBooks and audiobooks at no extra cost. Pair it with a Kindle or use the app on your phone for endless entertainment during downtime.
7. Grocery Delivery with Amazon Fresh
Finding groceries on the road can be hit or miss, but Amazon Fresh delivers fresh produce, pantry staples, and snacks to your doorstep (or, in our case, van door). Perfect for restocking before heading into a remote area.
8. Prime Photos
Capture every adventure with your camera, and store your photos securely with Prime Photos. With unlimited photo storage, you can save every sunset, mountain view, and campfire memory without worrying about running out of space.
9. Prime Try Before You Buy
Ever wished you could test out new camping gear or van accessories before committing? Prime Try Before You Buy allows you to do just that. It's perfect for figuring out what works best for your lifestyle without the hassle of returns.
10. Shareable Benefits
Traveling with a partner or fellow van lifers? You can share your Amazon Prime benefits with one other adult, making it even more valuable for your crew.
Final Thoughts
For van lifers, Amazon Prime isn’t just a luxury—it’s a lifeline. It helps simplify life on the road, saves time, and adds a little bit of comfort to the nomadic lifestyle. From convenient deliveries to entertainment and exclusive perks, Amazon Prime has your back whether you're boondocking in the desert or parked in the heart of a bustling city.

HEY, I’M THE WOLFMAN
My given name is Doug but you can call me The Wolfman, I got interested in Van Life when Covid hit and there was talk about selling the land where the little house I was living in sets, and knowing that I would have to find another place to go and fast.
While looking around for a van that I could afford my brother-in-law told me that he had an old yellow camper van that he would let me have for little or nothing down.
When he said that he had a yellow van he lift out the part about it being a Turd Yellow but I needed a van and it was cheap and easy to get since the seller was family. The van looked like crap on the outside but it had a new motor and transmission in it so I snatched it up!
I plan to give the outside a few coats of white bed liner paint and spend the biggest part of my budget on the living quarters of the van.
My plan after it is somewhat livable is to hit the road and do a little traveling and see what sort of adventures my little dog "Sybil The Boss Lady", and I can experience.
